Managed Print Services

The concept of Managed Print Services (MPS) has existed for years. MPS was a program reserved for companies with large fleets of copiers and fax machines. Copier companies like Xerox, Canon, and Ricoh would provide equipment, maintenance, and supplies in return for a base monthly fee plus a "click charge" for each copy.

Whenever a copier or fax machine ran out of toner or simply stopped working, the customer would call for service and a technician would show up, usually within 4-8 hours, and add toner or fix the machine. Although the copiers were "managed," the customer (end-user) could not copy, print, or fax while the machine was being worked on.

Generally this worked well for copiers, multifunctional devices (MFD), and fax machines... machines manufactured and provided by Xerox, Canon, or Ricoh. However, the problem was with the "printers," 80% of which were (and still are) HP. There are others too... Dell, Brother, and Lexmark to name a few. These were not covered under the MPS contract, so the customer was left to deal with ink and service issues themselves.

Three years ago, Page-per-Page developed a software utility (Print Tracker™) that will monitor ANY print device by ANY manufacturer on ANY network. More importantly, Print Tracker™ sends "alerts" whenever any print device is running low on ink or will be requiring maintenance BEFORE it actually happens.
